This Week At The Levitt Pavilion Thursday, 13 June 2013 09:07 It's a big week for local musical artists at the Levitt Pavilion when three artists from Tarrant County get their own concert nights.

First up is the American Jazz Composers Orchestra at 8 p.m. on Thursday. This local professional big band was born in 2010, the idea of Tim Ishii, Dan Cavanagh and Ken Edwards, who are all jazz professors at the University of Texas at Arlington. Made up of DFW musicians, the American Jazz Composers Orchestra is dedicated to promoting and documenting new works for large jazz ensembles that are created by American composers, primarily living composers. Their concert is sponsored by Downtown Arlington Management Corp.
The tribe gathers at the Levitt at 8 p.m. on Friday -- the Spoonfed Tribe that is. Describing a Spoonfed Tribe gathering is too hard, it's just something that has to be experienced. Formed in Fort Worth in 1999, the Tribe is known for its mesmerizing shows combining percussion, psychedelic sounds and mind-expanding visuals. Since their debut, Spoonfed Tribe has appeared at major festivals, such as Lollapalooza, Joshua Tree, Voodoo Music Experience and Wakarusa, sharing bills with acts like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Flaming Lips, Nine-Inch Nails and Galactic as well as become a staple on college radio stations around the country. Spoonfed Tribe is sponsored by Union Pacific.
